A follower rest is used on the lathe to support long, thin stock to keep it from deflecting away from the cutting tool. The stock is supported by two brass pads behind and above the cutting tool, and the rest moves with the saddle to keep the support directly behind the cutting tool as it moves along the part. Designed for use with Sherline lathes only.
